About me
I’m Dr. Melissa Green-Carter — a licensed clinical psychologist, emotional resilience coach, and creator of the Human Anchor Project. My work sits at the intersection of psychology, life transitions, relationships, and meaning-making. I support individuals navigating love, loss, identity shifts, caregiving roles, and major life changes — with warmth, depth, and evidence-based care. Whether through coaching, wellness resources, or global storytelling, my mission is to help people feel grounded, connected, and emotionally anchored in their lives.
The Anchored Life Framework
A grounded, psychology-informed approach to navigating life’s most meaningful transitions
Life doesn’t just move forward—it shifts, stretches, and sometimes unsettles us.
Whether you’re planning a wedding, navigating identity changes, caring for a loved one, or stepping into a new season of life, it’s easy to feel unsteady.
The Anchored Life Framework is the foundation of my work.
It’s a psychology-informed approach designed to help you stay emotionally grounded, clear, and connected to what matters most—even in the midst of uncertainty.
Instead of rushing to “fix” stress or push through overwhelm, this framework helps you:
- Slow down and understand what you’re feeling
- Regulate your emotions in high-stress moments
- Reconnect with your values and priorities
- Make intentional decisions instead of reactive ones
- Move through change with steadiness and self-trust
Because the goal isn’t to eliminate stress.
It’s to help you stay anchored within it.

The Human Anchor Project
The Human Anchor Project is an extension of the Anchored Life Framework—exploring how people across the world stay grounded through life’s most meaningful moments.

The Human Anchor Project
What keeps us grounded — wherever we are in the world?
The Human Anchor Project began not as a formal initiative, but as a personal question.
As I prepared to travel to Thailand (the 31st country I’ve visited) for my 54th birthday, I found myself reflecting on the deeper purpose of travel — not just seeing new places, but understanding people. As a psychologist, I’ve spent my career listening to stories of resilience, loss, love, and survival. As a traveler, I was curious how those same themes show up across cultures, languages, and lived experiences.
Before that trip, I asked myself a simple question:
What if I began asking people around the world what keeps them grounded?
That question became the beginning of the Human Anchor Project.
The Idea
The Human Anchor Project is a global storytelling and reflection initiative centered on one core concept:
we all rely on “anchors” — people, memories, values, rituals, and beliefs — that help us stay steady through life’s changes.
While the places we live, the languages we speak, and the traditions we carry may differ, the need for grounding, meaning, and emotional connection is universal.
As I travel, I invite people — locals and fellow travelers alike — to reflect on a small set of psychology-inspired questions about resilience, joy, and what anchors them during challenging or meaningful moments in their lives.
This Is Not Therapy — It’s Human Connection
The Human Anchor Project is not therapy or coaching.
It is a space for curiosity, listening, and shared humanity.
The conversations are informal, culturally respectful, and rooted in consent and reflection. Sometimes the answers are simple. Sometimes they are profound. Often, they reveal how deeply connected we are — even across vastly different lives.
This project allows me to step outside the therapy room while still honoring the heart of psychological work: presence, empathy, and meaning-making.
Why Anchors Matter
Across my professional and personal life, I’ve seen how people navigate transitions — marriage, loss, caregiving, identity shifts, aging, travel, and reinvention. What determines whether someone feels overwhelmed or grounded is often not the situation itself, but whether they feel anchored.
Anchors might be:
A person or relationship
A spiritual or cultural practice
A memory or family legacy
A daily ritual
A sense of purpose or belonging
The Human Anchor Project exists to honor those anchors — and to remind us that resilience is not something we manufacture alone. It is something we are held by.
Anchored Around the World
As this project has grown, it has become a travel tradition I now carry with me — a way of being present, intentional, and connected wherever I go.
Each conversation becomes part of Anchored Around the World, a living collection of stories that reflect how people across the globe stay grounded through love, loss, change, and joy.
These stories inform my broader work in emotional wellness, relationship support, and resilience — while also standing on their own as a testament to shared humanity.
An Invitation
The Human Anchor Project is an ongoing journey.
It’s an invitation to slow down.
To listen more deeply.
To recognize the anchors in our own lives — and in the lives of others.
Because no matter where we come from or where we’re going, we all need something that helps us stay grounded.
